Well, I'm back in Greece and I am in a very important mission. I, have to learn something that the Greeks created and teach it to them. I will teach them a sport called "boxing." Boxing was created by the Greeks on the 8th century B.C.E. Boxing is a sport of hand to hand combat. The Greeks called it pygmachia. In our modern world, it is still known as boxing. We use gloves full of hard cotton that protects our fist from bruising. Some people even wrap tape around their fist for extra protection. Back in Greece, they wore himantes (leather straps) over their hands and wrist. Boxing was created in the year 500 B.C.E. That means that I have to go back to 501 B.C.E. Well, I have gotten inside the house of the creator of boxing on the year before it was created. Here, I will have to teach them how to play, and teach them the rules of boxing.
" Okay, I will teach you how to play a sport called pygmachia." I told the creator. " It is very simple. All you have to do is get some leather straps, called himantes , and wrap them around your fist and wrist." I continued. " The concept of this sport is really easy.
All you have to do is beat up your opponent;then you knock them out." I said.
" How do you knock them out?" asked the creator.
" You punch their face or stomach until they fall and can't stand up any more. Here are the rules.
- No holds or wrestling
- Any blow with the hand is legal
- No gouging with the fingers
- Nothing on you hand but the leather straps
- The fight isn't over until someone gives up or someone was incapacitated." I explained.
"Okay. I am
absolutely sure I could remember that." said the creator.
"That's great. I have to go now. Maybe I'll see you later." I said. And with those last words, I left to my next destination.
I really like how you describe boxing: beat-up your opponent; then knock him out.
